As a simple and clear instructions about Honor 4X to install Lollipop or Marshmallow (BETA) upgrade or another little tweaks.. Warranty will be avoid if nothing else to be told about yours phone warranty.

Lollipop - Android 5.1

ROM Huawei Lollipop *.zip

Download ROM package Honor 4X CherryPlus-L11C432B310.zip → extract UPDATE.APP -file from Honor 4X CherryPlus-L11C432B310.zip package → create on phone's SDcard dload - folder → Move UPDATE.APP -file inside dload folder (which you just created).

Go to Settings and find Updater → choose inside Updater screen a menu and choose there a Local Update → Should come screen where you see UPDATE.APP - file → choose on UPDATE.APP → choose on new screen Install and continue installation by an instructions phone gives..

Marshmallow - Android 6.0 (BETA)

ROM Marshmallow *.zip Final version!
ROM Marshmallow BETA *.zip

Download ROM package update.zip → Move that update.zip -file to dload folder.

Go to Settings and find Updater → choose inside Updater screen a menu and choose there a Local Update → Should come screen where you see update.zip - file → choose on update.zip → choose on new screen Install and continue installation by an instructions phone gives..

So exactly sameway than Lollipop BUT don't extract that *.zip archive and try install by using that UPDATE.APP as it doesn't contain full system! I did first time that and it wasn't funny!

Huawei unlock Unlocking Agreement

From the factory Bootlaoder of Honor 4X is locked and to unlock it you will need Fastboot program and right drivers with it. ADB prgoram comes along and it is useful for toher things. All of these are available trhough this very useful and nice ADB Installer package which i highly recommend to use! It is so simple.

To be used example ADB you need turn on from the phone first of all USB debugging.
You have to go at Settings → About phone → push 7 times on Build number... → will appear Developer options at the main settings menu.. →go there and turn on USB debugging.

Marshmallow Adoptable Storage on Honor 4X

Huawei didn't include any settings (yet) to be used this new feature of Marshmallow on our phones. I did came up a way to use this Adoptable Storage on Honor 4X by trying this and it worked! So.. pictures below tells how. Thanks for orginal one how to do it.

Backup all files from SD card away as it needs to be formatted. You have to have installed ADB Installer and needs to have USB debugging turned on from the phone! Plug the phone at the pc via usb and let's start...

Open Windows command console (CMD) etc. by writing CMD at the search bar.

First we Loging at adb shell by writing adb shell → force Android's Adoptable Storage feature on by a command sm set-force-adoptable true (wait a moment for whateverphoneisdoing) → Before we can format our SD card.. we need to know what to format and so we will use command sm list-disks. In my example my phone's external SD Card was disk:179:128 which i used at formatting.



Formatting SD Card happens by sm partition disk:179:128 private (wait couple minutes and debends SD card size?) → formatting will crash in to error "blaah.. Thread Binder C.. blaah" don't care as nothing fatal. You can unplug usb and you will see that phone will notify about SD card.. Go to Advanced Settings → Memory & storage → You will see that now yours SD card is along with internal memory but not using full capacity so..

Push on SD Card → menu → Migrate data → in the Move data now screen choose MOVE → done...





Huawei's settings page will be bugged but apps has worked fine so far. By now i doing this second time (reformatting as portable) only HERE maps refuses to start.. but after i did restore with TWRV which i had HERE maps did open normally again for short period time and didn't work again.

TWRV Recovery

TWRV TWRV (Android 5.1/6.0 recovery)

This one is done for 4C but works in Kitkat and Marshmallow. Install using Fastboot command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

Rooting (Marshmallow)

1.zip SuperSU (Android 6.0)

Done for 4C but works again in Honor 4X. Install using TWRV recovery. I myself didn't follow guide than to point flash 1.zip -file and Root Checker did work fine and showed green.
